Gamecocks Top Cubs In Cornbelt Make Up Game

Using an early advantage, the Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks picked up their third Cornbelt win of the season with an 11-5 victory over Salem on Wednesday night. In a make-up game from earlier this season, the Gamecocks scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, used a five-run sixth inning to open things up and never trailed in the contest. Drew DeMers went four for five, scored three runs and drove in three from the lead-off spot, to lead Hartford/Humboldt. Cam Quigley went six innings to pick up the win, scattering three hits while walking two and striking out five.

Cole Cheeseman drove in a pair of runs to lead Salem, Gavin Reichmuth started on the mound and labored through six innings. Cornbelt baseball continues this evening with a full schedule on tap. Our game of the week will feature Canova at Flandreau. Action can be heard on FM103 with a 7:30pm first pitch expected.
