Flandreau Cardinals Struggle Against the Humboldt-Hartford Gamecocks

The Flandreau Cardinals dropped their third straight game last night, struggling to get hits as the Humboldt-Hartford Gamecocks got back into the win column. The Gamecocks had ten more hits than the Cardinals in a 8-1 game.

Runs were difficult to acquire for both teams early, with the Gamecocks getting the first run of the game at the top of third, and then neither team getting on the scoreboard until the sixth. That was when the Gamecocks grabbed the upper hand and scored five runs, extending their lead to 6-0.

Flandreau got their first and only run in the bottom of the seventh. Humboldt-Hartford then ran in two runs to close out their night in the top of the ninth with a score of 8-1.  Flandreau had 4 hits in the game compared to the Gamecocks 14 hits.

The Gamecocks will be back in action this Saturday against Platte in the Cornbelt v Sunshine Tournament. Game is scheduled to start at 2:30pm Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals will then close out the tournament Sunday night at 7:30pm when they play Mt. Vernon. That game can be heard on FM 103.1.
