District 4B Baseball Tournament Wraps Up Over Weekend

The 2020 District 4B Amateur Baseball Tournament wrapped up from Dell Rapids on Saturday with one final state qualifying game and the championship. In the first game of the day, the Madison Broncos scored three runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to a 10-0 win over Lennox Only One Alpacas. Madison would add a run in the fifth and then plated six runs in the ninth inning. Brian Miller drove in four runs. Greg Biagi, Jon Waba and Miller all had three hits for the Broncos. Jake Giles pitched a three hit, complete game shutout as it was the sixth game of the tournament for Madison.

Our championship game saw Flandreau and Canova once again square off. The Cardinals jumped out to an early advantage and got great pitching from Jordan Gesling and two relievers to pick up the 6-1 win. Ben Ihrke hit a solo home run for Flandreau, Canova was led by Kendall Gassman with three hits.

Seven teams advanced to the 2020 State Amateur Tournament that will get underway on Wednesday in Mitchell. We will follow all seven teams throughout the tournament on KJAM Radio. The first Cornbelt team playing will be Madison on Wednesday evening at 5:30 versus Groton. A look at the complete bracket can be found on the Cornbelt page.
