Chester Area Volleyball Loses in State Championship

Over the weekend, the Chester Area flyers advanced to the Class B State Volleyball Finals and fell to the Warner Monarchs in four sets.

Chester Area went into the tournament at the Denny Sanford Premier Center as the number three seed, and beat Colman-Egan in four sets (25-13, 25-16, 16-25, 25-20). They then advanced to play the number two-seed Burke team in the semifinals where they won again in four sets (24-26, 25-19, 27-25, 25-22).

In the state championship the Flyers played one-seed Warner, and like the previous two matches for Chester Area, it was decided in four sets. However, it was Warner who came out on top to get the 3-1 win over the Flyers, allowing the Monarchs to win back-to-back state championships.

The Flyers did play the Monarchs tough in the four sets, only allowing Warner to win the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-16, before winning their lone set in the third by a score of 25-14. Warner then won a hotly contested fourth and final set by a final of 26-24 to clinch the match victory.

Chester Area finished their season as the Class B runner-up in volleyball, while going 29-6 on the year.
