Chester Area boys and girls golf teams take first place at 2B golf meet in Dell Rapids Tuesday

The Chester Area boys and girls golf teams both took first place at the Region 2B golf meet in Dell Rapids on Tuesday. The Flier girls finished with a team score of 264, five strokes better than 2nd place Deaubrook. 

Chester’s Jadyn McDonald took 1st place individually with a round of 82. Ayla McDonald finished 2nd with an 85. Chester’s Cadance Oliver finished in 9th place. 

Howard’s Piper Thompson qualified for State, finishing 5th with a round of 90. She’ll be joined by teammates Trinity Palmquist and Mia Glanzer, who also finished in the Top 15. 

Berkley Groos of Colman-Egan finished 7th with a round of 96 to qualify for State. Hayden Oftedal of ORR also qualified by shooting a 105 and placing 14th.

Taylor Kriech of Colman-Egan won the boys Region 2B individual title with a 3 over par round of 74. Ashton Oliver of Chester was one stroke back in 2nd place, while Braden Vogel of Chester was 3rd. 

Chester, DeSmet, and Howard were the top three teams and are all now qualified for the State B Meet. Carter Wermers of Oldham-Ramona/Rutland also qualified, by finishing in 4th place with a round of 82. 

The State B girls and boys golf meet will be held in Rapid City, June 6th and 7th.Â
