Cardinals Season Comes to a Close in State Tournament
The Flandreau Cardinals finished off the second round of the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament with a loss to the Kimball/White Lake Nationals.
It was a strong night of pitching for both teams, with neither team giving up more than four hits in the contest. The Nationals drove in two runs in the third, which proved to be enough to defeat the Cardinals.
In the ninth inning, Mitch Foster hit an RBI Single with two-outs in the inning, but that would be all she wrote on the Flandreau Cardinals season, after getting knocked out of the tournament with a 2-1 loss to the Nationals.
Zak Wallner got the win for the Nationals, pitching the full game giving up only four hits while striking out ten.
Only two Cornbelt teams remain in the tournament, with the Lennox Alpacas playing this evening and the Dell Rapids Mudcats playing tomorrow night.
