Canova Topples Salem In Cornbelt Play

The Canova Gang rallied to pick up a 5-2 victory on Monday night in Salem, a make-up game from earlier in the season. Cole Cheeseman and Isaac Anderson picked up RBIs in the third inning to give the Cubs the early advantage. Canova tied the game with a pair of runs in the sixth inning and then captured the lead for good with a three run seventh. Kalub Carmichel drove in a pair for the Gang, who out hit the Cubs 10-5 in the contest.

Derek Miller went eight strong innings to pick up the win on the mound. He scattered five hits, walked one and struck out three. Tyler Earls came on in relief in the third inning for the Cubs and took the loss, going five innings. Canova improved to 7-3 on the Cornbelt season, while Salem dropped to 2-7.
