In a local Legion clash from Monday night, Humboldt/Hartford’s rally came up just short versus Dell Rapids, as Dells came away with the 7-6 win. Trailing 7-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, H/H scored five runs over the final two frames but left the tying run on second base to end the game. Zeb Shoemaker drove in three runs for Dell Rapids and Logan Stone went the distance on the mound to pick up the win. Humboldt/Hartford only managed five hits in the contest but took advantage of six errors to score four unearned runs.
Dell Rapids is scheduled to be back in action this Sunday with a pair of games and Humboldt/Hartford will be back on the diamond tonight versus Volga.
Garretson got a two out run scoring double in the bottom of the sixth inning on Monday night to knock off Miner/McCook in Legion ball 5-4. The visitors had claimed the lead in the top half of said inning, getting an RBI single from Jaxon Kampshoff but the lead was short lived. The two sides traded jabs throughout the contest, with each team answering the scoring of the other. Peyton Cleveland took the loss on the mound, pitching all six innings. He gave up nine hits and struck out four. Miner/McCook fell to 3-9 on the year and will be back on Friday at Volga.
