Cornbelt Elimination Games on Sunday

The first four teams to lose in the Cornbelt District tournament played in games yesterday afternoon, with the Dell Rapids Mudcats and Madison Broncos both grabbing wins in elimination games.

Opening the day yesterday was last year’s District Champs, Dell Rapids Mudcats, playing the Humboldt-Hartford Wood Ducks. A day after only getting one run, the Mudcats answered back on Sunday scoring double-digits, getting the 11-1 win over the Wood Ducks.

After struggling the last three games to get any sort of offense going, the Broncos finally got some runs on the board in the night game against the Colman A’s, with their first multi-run game since July 12th. The Broncos went on to beat the Argali with a final score of 9-2.

The Colman A’s and Wood Ducks seasons will be over after losing elimination games, while the Mudcats and Broncos will move on to play Thursday evening. Mudcats will open the night against their in-city rivals, Dell Rapids PBR, and the Broncos will follow with their game against the Salem Cubs.
