Howard returns to the DakotaDome for first time since 2014 and has their eyes on revenge and a State championship. The Tigers have come a long way since their 0-2 start on the season. One of those losses early this season came from Canistota/Freeman, who they face for 9A title today.
Defense has been a big part of the Tigers run this postseason, coming off wins where they held Warner and Britton/Hecla to a season low in points. Coach Pat Ruml says the struggles from the beginning of the year are far behind the Tigers.
Canistota/Freeman came out fast the last time the two teams faced each other. The Pride built up a 36-0 halftime lead on their way to 36-12 victory. Ruml says after halftime of that game, the season began to turnaround.
Howard faces Canistota/Freeman this morning for 9A Football State Championship at 10am in Vermillion. Canistota’s last appearance at the DakotaDome came in 2015 when they won the 9A title over Sully Buttes. Pregame on Jammin’ Country FM 103.1 and Amazingmadison.com begins at 9:40am.
