Canova Teeners pull away with 5th inning outburst in NE Region semifinals

A 9-run 5th inning propelled the Canova Teener baseball team into the NE Region semifinals after defeating Elkton 13-4 Tuesday afternoon in Baltic. The Gang 14U team also received help from Elkton’s 5 errors coming off a sluggish start offensively.

Elkton took charge early with 2 runs in the 3rd and eventually led 3-0. Jace Bolden grounded out in the 4th to score Canova’s 1st run of the game which set up a wild 5th inning. Canova took the lead for good with 9 runs off 3 walks, 3 hits and an Elkton error for a 10-3 advantage. The Gang scored 3 more times in the 7th before shutting down Elkton to seal the victory.

Jackson Remmers and Kolt Koepsell both collected 2 RBIs and Kieffer Klinkhammer had 2 hits for Canova’s Teeners. Now standing at 2-0 in the NE Region Bracket, Canova will take on Garretson at 5pm Wednesday. Garretson defeated Salem-Montrose 9-0 in the winners brackets after Canova’s win.
