The jury trial for a Lake County murder suspect will not take place next month. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office said the trial for 48-year-old Joseph Schmitz has again been rescheduled, this time to January of 2019. Schmitz was indicted on murder charges in connection with the death of his fiancée, 46-year-old Corina Booth, at their home near Lake Madison in April of 2016. Schmitz was released on a one-million dollar cash bond a year ago and is currently living with his mother in Aberdeen.
The State’s Attorney’s Office says Schmitz’s trial is now scheduled to begin on January 7th, 2019 in Lake County Circuit Court, and is expected to take up to a month.
