Uncharacteristic defense from the Madison Broncos left the door open for the hard-swinging Dell Rapids Mudcats to win 11-1 in 7 innings. After a pair of Bronco errors in the 1st, Aaron Johnson’s RBI groundout and Trevor Fruedenthal’s two-run double opened the scoring for the Mudcats. Dells scored 8 unanswered runs after giving up an RBI single to Jon Waba in the 2nd.
Jordan Johnson picked up the complete game win for the Mudcats and gave up one run off six hits. Grant Olson drove two runs and Dan Gacke hit a three-run homer for Dells as they improve to 5-2 to take sole possession of 2nd in the Cornbelt standings. Nick Bird took the loss for the Broncos giving up 9 runs on 10 hits.
The Broncos are now 4-3 in the Cornbelt and they will take to the road to face Humboldt/Hartford on Thursday, which will be covered on Jammin’ Country FM 103.1. The Mudcats take on Canova.
