Madison High School holds graduation ceremony

Eighty-one more students became alumni of Madison High School on Sunday.  Madison High School held its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2022 in the Madison High School gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.  Several students were recognized during the ceremony for their academic achievements, including those who finished in the top ten-percent of their graduating class.  Those eight students were Katharine Comes, Olivia Flemming, Alexandra Gutierrez, Abigail Morse, Elijah Olson, Nathan Ricke, Mallorie Schultz, and Alison Vacanti.

Madison High School Principal Adam Shaw said that this graduating class had earned more than one-point-two-million dollars in scholarship money for their post high school plans as well.

One of the student speakers Sunday was Katharine Comes, who plans to attend Southeast Technical Institute.  She said that she’s learned not to be afraid to try new things.

The second student speaker was Madora Mott, who plans to attend the University of Sioux Falls and major in Music Education.  Mott talked about the importance of being involved and being a part of a community, and encouraged students to be the best people they could be.

Several other area high schools also held graduation ceremonies this past weekend, including Rutland, Howard, and Chester.  Oldham-Ramona will hold its graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 21st.
