After picking up their first win of the season on Thursday, Dakota State University baseball fell in the final two games in their series with Valley City State. The Vikings handled business and won the first game 14-4 and scored late in Game #2 for a 6-3 victory in Omaha, NE.
Valley City State lead 6-0 before the Trojans scored one run in the 5th inning. Both teams were able to get men on base, the Vikings finished with 15 hits compared to DSU’s 14 hits. Marcos Alvarez was 4-for-4 and Samuel Drummond had 3 hits with a double and a RBI in the 14-4 loss.
Dakota State led early in Game #2 with a pair of runs in the 3rd inning. That lead went away as the Vikings scored four in the 5th and held on for the 6-3 win. DSU totaled 4 errors in the loss and left 6 men on base. Jordan Hofer and Jalen Boyd each smacked double for the Trojans, Hofer also drove in a run.
Now 1-22 overall and 1-12 in the NSAA on the season, Dakota State is scheduled to face Morningside College on Wednesday in Sioux City, weather permitting. DSU also returns to North Star conference games this weekend against Dickinson State on Saturday and Sunday.
