Greenhoff and Larson qualify for State, lead Flyers at De Smet Relays

Chester’s Track and Field athletes stood above the rest at the De Smet Booster Club Relays on Thursday. The Flyers boys team finished 7th with 41 points out of the 25 teams that competed while the girls team finished 9th and totaled 34 points.

Riley Greenhoff finished 1st in the 100 and 200 for the Flyer boys and qualified for State in both events. Greenhoff was also on the boys 4 by 400 relay team that took 2nd place at the De Smet Relays. Teammate Devin Lohr came in 3rd in the 200 and the 4 by 200 relay team placed 5th.

Makenna Larson paced the Chester girls with 1st place finishes in the 100 and 200 dashes to punch her ticket to State. Larson also finished 4th in the long jump. Jadon Wages also led the Flyers field events with a 5th place showing in the shot put and took 6th in the discus.

Considering the weather for the upcoming weekend, the Flyers next competition would be on Tuesday at the Gayville-Volin Invitational on Tuesday. Chester will also host the Tom Main Invitational next Saturday, April 21st.
