School board approves issuing contracts and other personnel action

The Madison Central School Board approved issuing contracts for certified staff for the 2018-2019 school year during its meeting on Monday.  Board president Tom Farrell said the contracts are set based on a two-year agreement negotiated last year.  He said this is the second year of the negotiated agreement.  According to that agreement that was approved by the board in April of last year, the 2018-2019 school year contracts will include an 850-dollar salary increase, with a 30-dollar a month increase in the district’s contribution for the certified staff member’s health insurance.  The base salary, according to the negotiated agreement, is 41-thousand-and-80 dollars for the 2018-2019 school year.

Also during their meeting Monday, the school board approved several personnel items.  Included in those items is the resignation of Evan Finley as Elementary teacher and Middle school boys basketball coach, effective at the end of this school year.  The board also approved several hires for the next school year, including Jerricka Thompson as a teacher and assistant varsity and freshman volleyball coach; and Michele Stark, Anna Hansen, and Kaitlyn Glover as Elementary school teachers.  Also hired is Sarah O’Donnell as Middle School Art teacher, Austin Kesteloot as the high school vo-ag teacher and FFA Advisor, and Christen Hildebrandt as a high school social studies teacher.  Board members also approved the hiring of Heather Meehan as an Early Childhood Para Professional, effective March 6th.

A part of the board’s personnel action also included the Reduction in Force for the Title One teachers for the next school year, based on the district’s notification of federal funding.
