MHS students to take part in school walkout

Madison High School students will take part in the nationwide school walkout planned for Wednesday.  High school principal Adam Shaw told Madison Central School Board members during their meeting Monday that he was approached by the school’s Student Council group, who asked to take part in the event.  Shaw said he has been working with them and the Madison Police Department to coordinate the walkout in the proper manner.

Shaw said there will be four police officers around the high school campus during the walkout.  He said that they are taking a proactive role with this with the students to make sure it is done right.  Shaw said he is meeting with the students today to discuss what will be taking place.

The walkout is set to take place nationwide on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. local time and last for 17 minutes to honor the lives of those killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida one month ago.
