Bulldogs offense keeps rolling in win over Vermillion

The scoring of AJ Plitzuweit wasn’t enough to keep up with the combined firepower of the Madison Bulldogs on Monday night. Madison took an early lead and never gave it back, in an 86-70 win over the Tanagers.

Trailing by 20 points in the 4th quarter, Plitzuweit brought his team back to within 9 points with under 5 minutes to play. The best way to stop the Vermillion senior turned out to be to make him play defense. With Jadon and Jaxon Janke attacking the basket all game, Vermillion found themselves in foul trouble. Plitzuweit fouled out of the game with 4 minutes remaining, ending the Tanager threat.

Jaxon finished the game with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Jadon Janke added 19 points and Aaron Fiegen 18. Plitzuweit had a game high 34 points for Vermillion. The Bulldogs improved to 17-1 on the season, and the Tanagers fell to 10-8.

Madison will travel to Dakota Valley on Friday for a double-header with the Panthers.

Jarrett Lurz was perfect from the field for the second straight game, and his 16 points led the Madison JV team over Vermillion 60-42. Madison used a 20-4 run in the 3rd quarter to pull away for the win. Caileb Reilly had 10 points and 7 rebounds, Tyler Tappe added 6 points and 5  assists.
