Dakota State Lady T’s Basketball returned to their non-conference schedule Tuesday night against a tough #10 ranked Morningside College at the DSU Fieldhouse. DSU never led and fell to the Mustangs 95-51 as turnovers were the main catalyst that held down the momentum of the Lady T’s. The game quickly went right into the hands of Morningside as they led 25-14 after the first quarter.
Morningside also went on to outscore Dakota State by 20 in the second to take a commanding 57-29 lead at the half. The Mustangs also helped distance their lead by shooting 10-for-17 from long range in the opening half. Dakota State came out for the second half and shot 35 percent from the floor but that still wasn’t enough to get back into the game. The Lady T’s turned the ball over 32 times to the Mustangs which turned into 38 points. Morningside also capitalized on second chance points, outscoring DSU 26-8. Madison Braun led the Mustangs with 19 points with 8 steals and Jenna Bork also posted 18 points by shooting 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
Dakota State was led by Shelby Vogel with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Britley Plautz added 8 points and 9 rebounds. Raven Patton added 4 blocks for the Lady T’s. Dakota State falls to 4-9 overall and returns to their NSAA conference schedule next weekend. The Lady T’s remain at the Fieldhouse to take on Bellevue University on Saturday, December 16th and Mayville State University on Sunday, December 17th.
