Area HR directors form collaborative group

Human resource managers in the Madison area all report facing the problem of not finding enough workers to fill job openings.  With a three-point-four-percent unemployment rate in September numbers, the state has the tenth lowest unemployment rate in the nation.

These issues with recruitment and other H-R issues is what led Lori Schultz, HR Manager for Mustang Seeds in Madison, and Angie Kappenman, Dakota State University’s director of Human Resources, to start the formation of a professional group for local HR managers.

Twenty local Human Resource managers attended an introductory meeting last month and discussed possible format and topics.

The group may invite speakers, conduct a wage and benefits survey, and hold other topical discussions on different issues.

The HR group is planning to meet the second Thursday of each month, and all area HR managers are invited to attend.
