Dakota State University Volleyball ended their 6 match road-trip with a 5-set battle against Valley City State University Wednesday night. The Vikings edged out the Trojans in the opening set winning 26-24 with DSU taking the second set 25-16. Valley City State then dropped Dakota State 25-15 in the middle set. Then the Trojans battled back to win set four with a 27-25 victory to force the decisive 5th set. Valley City State gained the victory over DSU with a 15-11 win in the final set.
Valley City State University finished with 11 services aces with the Trojans added 7 aces. Taylor Sharp led the Vikings with 12 kills and Autumn Johnson added another 10 kills. For Dakota State, Sami Zell had a match high 13 kills and Carly Rozell finished with 18 digs. Kendra Steffen finished with 17 assists and Rachel Johnson added 13 assists for DSU.
Dakota State returns home to the Fieldhouse for three matches starting this weekend with their 5-19 overall record. The Trojan Volleyball team also returns with a 3-6 NSAA conference record to take on Grace University in non-conference action Friday night. DSU will then take on #19 ranked Bellevue University on Parent’s Day for Saturday before taking on Mount Marty College next Thursday.
