Trojans prepare for eager Waldorf Warriors and dual threat quarterback

The schedule for the Dakota State University football team doesn’t get any easier from here on out. Their early evening match-up against Waldorf University today will also be contending for sole possession of 2nd place in the North Star conference standings, as both teams hold 2-1 conference records. The Trojans are coming off a late, come-from-behind 20-14 overtime victory over the University of Jamestown last week. DSU was held down offensively until the 4th quarter while the Trojan defense was able to block a field goal in the overtime period. Running back Hagan Hines took over in the 2nd half with 139 rushing yards and scored the game winning touchdown for Dakota State.

Waldorf is also coming off an emotional late victory  Valley City State University 39-35 last week. Sophomore quarterback Hilton Joseph’s led the last minute touchdown drive to give the Warriors the win. Joseph finished with 282 passing yards and accounted for another 95 rushing yards with 6 total touchdowns in the win for Waldorf. Those numbers garnered NAIA and NSAA Offensive Player-of-the-week honors, Trojans coach Josh Anderson knows that the defense is going to have to contain Joseph in the pocket and on the run.

Kick-off for the Trojans and Warriors is set for 6pm from Trojan Field in Madison. Coverage of the game begins at 5:40pm on Jammin’ Country 103.1 and online through the DSU Sports page at
