Dakota State Volleyball’s return to their North Star conference schedule hit a bump on the road against Dickinson State Friday night. The Trojans fell to the Blue Hawks in 3 sets with close rallies being a major part of the action Friday night. It was also a back and forth affair between two struggling teams looking to turn the corner heading further into conference play.
Dickinson State took the first set with a 25-22 win in the first set as the Blue Hawks never had a comfortable lead. From that point on, Dickinson was able to edge out the Trojans 25-19 in the second set and close out the match with a third set victory 25-12. Ellie Hanser had a match-high 10 kills for Dickinson State and Kylie Hadley had 9 kills of her own. Brianna Holland added 16 assists for the Blue Hawks
Dakota State was led by Sami Zell and Carly Rozell with 6 kills in the match. Rachel Johnson also had 14 assists for the Trojans and Bailee Steffensen had 5 digs. Dakota State falls to 4-16 overall and 2-3 in the NSAA standings, the Trojans stay on the road to face University of Jamestown this afternoon. First serve is 4pm.
