The third edition of the Dakotah Bank/North Star Athletic Association Football Players-of-the-Week once again featured members of the Dakota State University Trojans. Coming off the heels of their 49-33 victory over the Briar Cliff University Chargers, Dereck DeVries was tabbed as the Defensive Player-of-the-Week and Brywn Ractliffe brought home Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honors.
Senior defensive back Dereck DeVries tallied 8 total tackles in the victory over Briar Cliff to go along with 2 interceptions. The Lennox native also forced one of 3 fumbles recovered by the Trojans, totaling 5 forced turnovers in the victory for Dakota State.
Brywn Ractliffe again continues his perfect extra point streak to open the 2017 season, reaching now 18 straight. The senior kicker from Canton, SD was a perfect 7-for-7 in extra points against Briar Cliff. This is the 2nd time this season that Ractliffe has been named Special Teams Player-of-the-Week, his 8-for-8 in extra points performance against #17 Dakota Wesleyan garnered his first honor.
Dakota State Football returns to Trojan Field to open North Star conference play versus Mayville State University on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 6pm, coverage of the game will be on Jammin’ Country FM 103.1 and online at Amazingmadison.com.
