City approves agreements for airport projects

The Madison City Commission authorized the signature on several grant agreements for projects at the Madison Airport during its meeting Monday.  Commissioners authorized Mayor Roy Lindsay to sign an agreement with the state Department of Transportation for the payment of its portion of the wetland mitigation at the airport.  City Engineer Chad Comes said the state and city each pay five-percent and the Federal Aviation Administration 90-percent of the cost of the project.

Commissioners also authorized the mayor to sign a grant agreement with the FAA, as well as an agreement with the state DOT, for design work to be done on the south end of the parallel taxiway at the airport.  With this project also, Comes said, the FAA pays for 90-percent of the cost, while the city and state each pay five-percent of the total cost of the project.
