Two injured in accident Wednesday in Madison

Two people were injured in an accident in Madison on Wednesday.  Madison Police report that Wednesday morning around 10:00, the driver of a vehicle eastbound on Northwest 2nd Street collided with a westbound vehicle, who’s driver turned south on Egan Avenue in front of it.

Police report that 48-year-old Patrick Kuusela of Madison was driving a 2016 Chevy Silverado east on Northwest 2nd Street approaching the intersection with North Egan Avenue.  Kuusela told police his light turned green and he saw the second vehicle, a 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by 93-year-old Rex Page of Madison, approaching the intersection in the turning lane to turn south off of 2nd Street onto Egan Avenue.  Kuusela said that Page made a left turn in front of him and he was not able to stop to avoid the collision.  Page was cited for failing to yield to the other vehicle.

Both men were transported to Madison Regional Health.  Damage to the pick-up Kuusela was driving is estimated at around six-thousand dollars, and damage to Page’s vehicle was estimated at 45-hundred dollars.
