The Senate version of health care reform may cut back Medicaid funding sharply, or may not, depending on your view. Governor Dennis Daugaard says funding would depend on what the state is getting now.
The plan would reduce future spending that was allocated under the Affordable Care Act.
Daugaard says while states could be liable for those increases, he doesn’t think South Dakota would be.
Daugaard says he is concerned about the continued rise in federal spending.
South Dakota did not expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, so would probably see less future funding.
