The Oldham-Ramona/Rutland baseball team had a tough match-up Saturday afternoon against Deuel. The Rebels fell in both games in a doubleheader 16-1 and then 7-6 in Game 2.
The first game was troubling for the Rebels as they were held to only 4 hits and also accounted for 4 errors in the field. Deuel got their biggest lead with 5 runs in the 2nd and 9 runs in the bottom of the 4th. Jeremiah Hoekman had 3 hits in the game and struck out 3 batters in 3 innings on the mound.
In Game 2, ORR took a 6-4 lead in the 4th inning after a back and forth start. Deuel cut the lead down to 6-5 in the 5th before they took the lead for good in the top of the 7th. Deuel then shut down ORR in the bottom half of the inning and won by the final score of 7-6. Riston Wolf and Taylor Hojer both knocked 2 hits for the Rebels, Hoekman also drove in 2 runs.
After the doubleheader sweep from Deuel, ORR is now 4-3 overall and had their 3-game winning streak snapped. The Rebels take on Dell Rapids on Friday in Madison.
