Raiders comeback falls short in 29-26 playoff loss

Corsica-Stickney will make a return trip to the 9B semi-finals, after the Jaguars held on for a 29-26 win over Oldham-Ramona/Rutland on Monday night. The Raiders trialed early as Jaguars running back Bryce Plamp ran in an 8 yard touchdown for the only score of the 1st quarter. That put Corsica-Stickney up 6-0.

ORR took their only lead in the 2nd quarter, after a 60 yard Jamus Brown pass to Jacob Hegdahl set up a 1 yard TD run from Brown. The two point conversion put ORR up 8-6. Corsica-Stickney answered right away with quarterback Clayton Menning running in a 10 yard score, and then adding a TD pass to put the Jaguars up 22-8. But Brown and Hoekman hooked up for a 20 yard score before the break to make the halftime score 22-14.

In the third Brown ran in another score, but the conversation was no good, and ORR still trailed 22-20 going into the 4th quarter. Plamp added another score to give Corsica-Stickney some breathing room, and a nine point lead. The Raiders followed that with a 25 yard TD pass from Brown to Hunter Breske. But the following onside kick was recovered by the Jaguars, who ran out the clock for the 29-26 win.

The ORR season ends with a record of 6-4. Corsica-Stickney is now 10-0, and will host Colome Saturday in the 9B Semi-finals.
