Area high schools and colleges competed in Sioux Falls at the Augustana University Twilight Meet, which is one of the biggest cross country meets of the season.
For the Madison girl’s, Hailey Streff finished with the best time of the team, running in 11 minutes and 27 seconds to finish 17th out of 160. Samantha Herman would finish 84th and the Madison Girl’s team finished 14th overall, with an average time of 12 minutes and 40 seconds.
On the boy’s side, Madison finished 19th out of the 20 teams that competed in the competition, with an average time of 17 minutes and 56 seconds. Ammon Hawkes ran the best time for the Bulldogs, finishing 69th in 16 minutes and 57 seconds.
West Central’s Derick Peters finished 1st in the meet in 14 minutes and three seconds, as the West Central boy’s team finished 5th in the meet.
Dakota State men’s cross country team competed in the Twilight meet as well, finishing 18th as a team. Braden Curnow (Cur-now) ran the 4 mile run in 20 minutes and 44 seconds to finish 74th, while teammate Alex Derr finished 104th.
