DSU volleyball travels to Florida for season opener

DSU volleyball looks to build on last year’s success when they open their season at The St. Thomas Tournament in Miami Gardens, Florida. Twenty three students reported to fall camp last week with 12 returning from last year’s squad that posted The Trojans best record since 2004, finishing 21-15 with a 7-3 conference mark. Head Coach Amy Veenhof says having a majority of the same players return not only helps the team compete but also helps the program grow

One of the players back this year for DSU is NSAA Freshmen of the Year and 2nd team all conference selection Carly Rozell , who Coach Veenhof says played beyond her years during her freshman campaign

The team leaves tomorrow for the 2 day St. Thomas Tournament which begins Friday morning; The Trojans face Florida Memorial College at 8 am and host St. Thomas at 1. Coach Veehof says starting the season with unfamiliar opponents helps her team focus on playing their game

The St. Thomas Tournament wraps up Saturday afternoon; The Trojans spend the 1st month of season on the road before returning home September 24th for a conference match with Presentation College.
