DSU Football team gearing up for fall season


The Dakota State University football team kicks off its season on Saturday, August 30th.  The Trojans, who finished with a 2-8 overall record and 2-2 in the inaugural year of the North Star Athletic Association, will enter their sixth season under Head Coach Josh Anderson.

DSU Volleyball seniors named Preseason All-Conference


Three Dakota State University volleyball players received preseason all-conference honors from the North Star Athletic Association on Tuesday.  The conference announced its Preseason All-Conference team for the upcoming season.

Madison Boys Golf takes fourth at West Central to open season


The Madison boys’ golf team kicked off its 2014 season at the West Central Invite on Monday.  The Bulldogs were able to come away with a fourth-place finish at the season opening event.

DSU Volleyball team opens season on Friday


The Dakota State University volleyball team is gearing up to kick off its season on Friday.  The Trojans, who finished the season with a 9-25 record a year ago, are looking to improve heading into the 2014 season.

DSU Men's Basketball team releases schedule


The Dakota State University men’s basketball team has released its schedule for the 2014-2015 season.  The Trojans will play a total of 31 games, with 12 of them scheduled to be played at the newly renovated DSU Fieldhouse.

Madison Boys Golf Team opens season at West Central


The Madison boys’ golf team will open the season today, taking part in the West Central Invitational.  The Bulldog boys will be among 19 teams competing at the Central Valley Golf Course in Hartford.

DSU Softball team adds three to roster


The Dakota State University softball team has added three new players to its roster for the upcoming season.  The three players, who will join the Trojan roster in the spring, hail from South Dakota and Iowa.

Flandreau ends Cornbelt season with loss to Alexandria


The Flandreau Cardinals had their season, and the Cornbelt League’s, come to an end on Friday night at the State ‘B’ Amateur Baseball Tournament.  The Cardinals were defeated by the defending State Champion, Alexandria Angles, 15-0 at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, in a game that ended in the sixth inning due to the run rule.

DSU Football team picked to finish sixth in the North Star


The Dakota State University football team was picked to finish sixth in the North Star Athletic Association, according to a poll released on Thursday.  The conference’s coaches released their preseason poll for the second season of competition in the North Star.

Shan wins title; Madison girls to host scrimmage


Madison Kevin Shan claimed victory in the final U.S. Tennis Association Tournament of the summer held in Sioux Falls.  Shan earned first-place in the boys’ 16-and-under singles division.

Flandreau advances to Amateur Baseball quarterfinals


The Flandreau Cardinals kept their season alive with a victory on Wednesday night at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.  The Cardinals defeated the Platte Killer Tomatoes 4-2, advancing to the quarterfinal round of the State ‘B’ Amateur Baseball Tournament.

The Dakota State University volleyball team was picked to finish fourth in the North Star Athletic Association this season, in a poll released on Wednesday.  The North Star preseason poll was determined by the conference’s volleyball coaches.

Rapid City team to play in Little League World Series Thursday


The Canyon Lake team from Rapid City will face a team making their first appearance at the Little League World Series on Thursday.  The Little League Midwest Region Champions will face Mountain Ridge of Nevada in a game at 6 p.m. Thursday, which will air on ESPN2 from Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Harrisburg's season comes to an end


Parkston was able to take advantage of three Harrisburg errors as they beat The Woodies 5-0 in Mitchell last night to advance to the quarterfinals of The Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament.  Harrisburg had 3 hits in the top of the 1st inning against Mudcats starter Brady Nolz but could not score a run.

Harrisburg to face Parkston Mudcats at State Tourney


The Harrisburg Woodies will take the field tonight in Mitchell, looking to advance to the quarterfinal round of the State ‘B’ Amateur Baseball Tournament.  The Woodies will take on the Parkston Mudcats, who were the 2012 State Champions and semifinalists at last year’s tournament.

SDSU finishes Brazil Trip with 3-1 record


The South Dakota State University men’s basketball team concluded its trip to Brazil on a high note.  The Jackrabbits closed out its ‘Brookings to Brazil Tour’ on Sunday with a dominating 114-63 win over Botafogo, a team from the Brazilian A1 League, which is the top league in the country.

Madison Gold 16s fall in Consolation Championship


The Madison Gold 16-year-old baseball team fell in the Consolation Championship game on Sunday at the State ‘A’ VFW 15-16 Tournament in Volga.  Madison was defeated by Groton 8-4, to finished sixth out of the eight teams in the tournament.

Flandreau dominates Platte, advances at State Tournament


The Flandreau Cardinals became the second Cornbelt League team to advance to the second-round of the State ‘B’ Amateur Baseball Tournament, earning a lopsided victory on Sunday afternoon.  In the final game of the first-round, the Cardinals defeated the Miller Outlaws 17-0 at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, in a game that ended after just seven innings due to the run rule.

Canova falls in State 'B' Amateur Tournament opener


The Canova Gang suffered a loss in their opening round matchup Sunday at the State ‘B’ Amateur Baseball Tournament.  After a holding a 3-0 lead, the Gang came up short, falling 4-3 to the Platte Killer Tomatoes, bringing their season to an end in Mitchell.
