Madison HS Baseball falls in Region Championship
The Madison High School baseball team had their season come to an end Wednesday evening. The Bulldogs fell to Deubrook/Deuel 3-2 in the Region Championship game, which was moved to Baughman-Bellati Park in Madison.

Youth qualify for State at Madison Hershey Track Meet
Several young , ages 9 thru 14, took part in the annual Hershey Track Meet on Tuesday in Madison. Kids from within Madison and the surrounding area took part in the event on a rainy evening at Trojan Field.

Former SDSU pitcher, makes it to the Big Leagues
Former South Dakota State pitcher Caleb Thielbar was called up by the Minnesota Twins on Monday and made his major league debut, striking out three Atlanta Braves in two shutout innings out of the bullpen. In making his debut, Thielbar became the first former Jackrabbit player to appear in a major league game.

The Madison girls’ golf team wrapped up Day One of competition at the State Class A Girls Golf Tournament in Milbank. After 18 holes of golf, Madison has four individuals in the top half of the standings.

The Colman A’s started off their 2013 Corn Belt League season on the right foot. After making it to the State Amateur Baseball Tournament for the first time in 75 years last season, the A’s opened up this Corn Belt season with a 4-3 win over Humboldt-Hartford.

The Dakota State University baseball team placed four athletes on the 2013 Association of Independent Institutions/Frontier Baseball All-Conference team. Rays Roman, Ryan Bourcier, Anyelo Roman and Kyle Holland were the selections for the Trojans.
