Heartland Student of the Month

For the second year, Heartland is teaming up with KJAM Radio in Madison to offer an exceptional student in one of five area school districts the chance to be named “Student of the Month.”  Heartland named Amanda Jensen, a senior at Arlington High School, as the May student of the month.
Heartland provides wholesale power to the cities of Colman, Arlington, Volga, Madison and Howard, all of which are in the KJAM listening area. Each month of the school year, Heartland recognizes an outstanding student from one of these schools. The student is presented a recognition certificate and a small token from Heartland. Advertisements announcing the winning student air on KJAM the last week of each month.  Officials from each participating school nominate students for the award.

“Amanda has a passion for working with people and a friendly personality that makes students want to work with her,” said Kelly O’Donnell, an agriculture instructor at Arlington High School. “She motivates and inspires students to do better. Amanda is a hardworking, dedicated, and trustworthy individual.”

Amanda is the daughter of Larry and Tanya Jensen. She has been active in 4H, Oral Interp, One Act Play, All School Play, National Honor Society, and the Arlington FFA chapter, serving this year as president. She also does very well academically by making the A honor roll each year.  She also works as a waitress at The Bullpen and helps teach Sunday school. Amanda plans to attend Northern State University in the fall to pursue a degree in Math Education.
