Guard relocation ceremonies to be held this weekend
Sue Bergheim Reporting
Three re-location ceremonies are set for South Dakota Army National Guard units from Salem, Winner, and Platte this weekend. Salem’s Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion, 1-147th Field Artillery Battalion, along with detachments from Winner and Platte will conduct their drill training at other locations throughout the state beginning in October. Yankton’s Charlie Battery, 1-147th Field Artillery Battalion, will be re-flagged as Bravo Battery, transferring from Salem.
The ceremonies are being held to honor the units’ service to each community.
The relocations and re-flagging are a result of federal budget cuts, U-S Army restructuring and the construction of a new Regional Readiness Center in Watertown. The ceremony at Salem will be held at 2:00 Saturday at the Salem National Guard Armory.
