Fire damaged a home in Madison on Wednesday afternoon.  Madison Fire Chief Randy Minnaert says the fire was at Marlene Breuer’s home at 201 South Liberty Avenue in Madison, and was reported just before 3:00 on Wednesday afternoon.  Minnaert says the fire appears to have started in a window air conditioner, but the exact cause remains under investigation.  He says the fire damage was contained to a bedroom in the home where the air conditioner was located, but there is substantial smoke damage throughout the home.  Minnaert says Breuer was not home at the time of the fire. 
Firefighters were on scene for close to an hour-and-a-half Wednesday afternoon.
