After traveling nearly three-thousand miles to more than 50 different locations, the 1962 3010 John Deere tractor has a new home. On Sunday at Prairie Village, Esther Hyland of Ramona became the winner of the tractor from more than 530 registered semi-finalists. Hyland was one of ten finalists drawn to spin the wheel on the gazebo at Prairie Village, with the person hitting “50”or coming the closest to it winning the tractor. Hyland ended up in a spin-off with fellow finalists Merle Peterson of Madison and Fred Olinger of Salem – with Hyland spinning the winning number…something she said she knew was going to happen.
Hyland had predicted her win already back in July when she registered.
Hyland was excited and grateful for winning the tractor, restored and donated by James River Equipment of Madison.
Hyland said she recently retired and the tractor made a great retirement gift…one she will treasure and put to good use.
The other finalists in Sunday’s tractor giveaway at Prairie Village were Jerry Nelson, along with Doug Sunde, Lyman Laisy, Robert Armstrong – all of Madison, Justin DeVaney of Wentworth, Brian Hodne of Winfred, and Deb Meyers of Fort Thompson.
