Parking an issue as school starts in Madison on Tuesday

Patience will be the name of the game as parents and students head back to school tomorrow in Madison…especially around the Middle and High School areas.  Construction started this summer on a major renovation project there and that means some different routes and limited parking for both students driving to school and parents dropping their children off at the schools.  Superintendent Vince Schaefer says students will have the biggest adjustments to make.

Schaefer says the parking will be on a first come-first serve basis in the lot itself, with students and parents having to be careful and conscientious of where they park their vehicles.

Schaefer says students can park on 9th Street east of the Middle School, on the street south of the middle school, in some areas on 11th Street, on the street just west of the tennis courts, or in the Dakota State University Trojan Field lot.
Schaefer says that they will deal with issues as they come up.

The Madison school district announced late last week some changes in its bus routes as well for this school year, including the addition of an all in-town route.  More information on those can be found on the district’s website
Open houses at Madison Elementary and Madison Middle School are being held today in preparation for tomorrow’s start to the school year.
