Ellsworth Funeral Home celebrating 100 years of service

This year marks a monumental anniversary for the Ellsworth Funeral Home in Madison.  100-years ago, the funeral home was started by the Hallenbeck family, and the Bob and Cindy Ellsworth family purchased it in 1979.  In recognition of that, Bob Ellsworth says they are planning a special event starting on Friday.

Along with the open house at the funeral home, Ellsworth is planning a community picnic at Memorial Park in Madison from 2:00 until 4:00 Friday afternoon.  Ellsworth says there will be food and entertainment with the Kiwanis Quartet during the picnic.

After Friday’s events, Ellsworth will be taking the casket to Prairie Village for the Jamboree weekend, where it will be displayed at the historical Hallenbeck-Ellsworth mortuary building.

The replica of Lincoln’s casket will also then be displayed next Friday, August 31st at the Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard.  Ellsworth says that his family and Terry and Ann Lee of the Willoughby Funeral Home have started working together and have recently done some re-decorating and remodeling of the Howard facility.  The open house at the Willoughby Funeral Home is from 2:00 until 4:00 on the 31st.
