A group of state lawmakers will meet in Madison this week to discuss higher education in South Dakota. The Post-secondary Education Interim Committee is meeting Tuesday and Wednesday in the Karl Mundt Library on the campus of Dakota State University in Madison. Senator Russell Olson of Wentworth is the chair of the committee and says the committee is studying and coming up with suggestions for the next legislative session on higher education’s purpose and funding.
Olson says the committee will hear from representatives from a couple of different post-secondary groups during the two-day meeting.
The committee is made up of Senators and Representatives from across the state, and representatives from the Board of Regents and the state’s public technical institutes will also be at the meeting to respond to some of the funding discussion. The group will also hear from Pamela Roberts – the Secretary of the State Department of Labor and Regulation.
Olson says this is the 2nd of four meetings he is hoping to have with the group around the state.
The Postsecondary Education Interim Committee meeting in Madison starts at 12:30 on Tuesday and again at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The public is invited to attend.
