Lake County commissioners recently heard a report from their Equalization Director on the new ag productivity numbers for the county for 2013 ag assessments. During their regular meeting Tuesday, Shirley Ebsen told commissioners that there has been a change in state law that will change the way ag land is assessed.
Ebsen said that Lake County will have to increase both cropland and non-cropland for 2013 assessments.
Ebsen said that Lake County is so far behind in the non-cropland that it will see large increases for several years to catch up.
Ebsen said she knows the timing isn’t the best for these kinds of changes.
