Strong storms move through area Friday night

Residents throughout Lake County and the surrounding area spent part of their weekend cleaning up from a severe storm that rolled through the area on Friday night.  Winds in excess of 70-miles-an-hour were reported in some areas, with numerous trees and large branches down in Ramona, Madison, and throughout the area.  Because of the high wind capabilities with the storm, the severe weather sirens were activated in communities throughout Lake County.
At the peak of the storm, Sioux Valley Energy reported more than 40 power outages impacting more than 65-hundred people in the Madison, Ramona, Arlington and Brookings areas.  Some power wasn’t able to be restored until Saturday afternoon.
