The 31st annual Texaco Country Showdown is coming to Madison tonight.  KJAM is hosting America’s largest country music talent search, designed to find the most promising country music talent in the U-S.   Close to ten contestants are currently registered to take part in tonight’s event – which starts at 6:00 at Madison’s Library Park.  You can come early for a root beer float before the event, and bring your lawn chairs.
Local winners advance to one of forty state contests, where the prizes include one-thousand dollars in cash, and the opportunity to compete at one of five regional contests in the fall. The five regional winners receive a trip to the National Final, and the chance to compete for the 100-thousand dollar prize.
