Madison DQ sells 100,000th blizzard for Miracle Treat Day

A trip to Madison to run some errands and buy some Dairy Queen-Miracle Treat Day blizzard coupons turned into a big surprise for one local woman.  Melissa Palmquist stopped into Dairy Queen at around 11:00 this (Wednesday) morning with two of her children, and with her purchase became the person to buy Miracle Treat Day blizzard number 100-thousand.

Palmquist wins a prize package from the Dairy Queen and the Children’s Miracle Network for her special purchase, but she says the whole event is about so much more than that.

Palmquist and her family have supported Miracle Treat Day at the Madison Dairy Queen every year since it started in 2006.  Owner DeLon Mork says the success of the event has left him almost speechless.

Mork says he has been concerned because some long-time donors to Miracle Treat Day have passed away in the last year, but he says that something good always comes and surprises him.

Mork said Wednesday that they are well on their way to making their goal of 27-thousand-500-blizzard sales this year.

Miracle Treat Day kicks into full gear tomorrow (Thursday) with games, events, and bands tomorrow (Thursday) evening as part of the celebration.
