It has been a standard in the Brookings community for the past four decades, and it is back for another round this weekend. It’s the Brookings Summer Arts Festival – traditionally held on the 2nd full weekend in July in Pioneer Park in Brookings. Shari Avery, the Publicity Chair for the Festival, said the 41st annual event is unique.
Avery said the festival includes more than 200 artists from across the nation, representing seventeen disciplines of artwork. Of those 200, Avery said more than 60 are new vendors.
Avery said the festival will also include more than 40 food booths and lots of free entertainment.
Avery said there is a lot of parking by Pioneer Park, but there is also a shuttle bus available all day each day that will load and unload near the corner of 6th Street and 22nd Avenue in Brookings. The hours for the Brookings Summer Arts Festival are this Saturday from 10:00 until 7:00 and Sunday from 10:00 until 5:00.
