Lake County Commission hear budget requests for 2013

Lake County commissioners heard several requests for their 2013 budget during their regular meeting on Tuesday.

The Lake Area Improvement Corporation is asking the county for 25-thousand dollars for its Forward Madison-2 campaign and 10-thousand dollars for its general budget.  Executive Director Julie Gross said in her proposal to commissioners that the 25-thousand dollars would be used toward specific projects relating to business development, retail development and marketing in the Forward Madison initiative, and ten-thousand dollars would be used for the general L-A-I-C budget.

Interlakes Community Action Partnership requested 12-thousand dollars for East Dakota Transit for 2013.  Last year, East Dakota Transit received 10-thousand-500 dollars in its 2012 budget, with an additional stipend of 15-hundred dollars later in the year to help out after I-CAP lost some of its federal funding.  I-CAP also is requesting just over 95-hundred dollars for general support costs for its community service worker.

The Senior Companion program is again requesting two-thousand dollars for its program for 2013, and ECCO Incorporated is requesting 25-hundred dollars to help fund its computerized staff training system.

Another agency that presented its requests to commissioners on Tuesday was Prairie Village.  Manager Stan Rauch is asking the county for its annual contribution of five-thousand dollars for Prairie Village that will either be used toward one of its projects or in support of its continued preservation of all of its historic buildings.

County commissioners on Tuesday approved a resolution for a joint cooperative agreement with the First Planning and Development District.  First Planning Executive Director Todd Kays told commissioners that Lake County’s dues for fiscal year 2013 will be close to 17-thousand dollars, with an annual three-percent increase after that.

The Lake County Treasurer’s Office and Register of Deeds Office also presented their 2013 budget requests on Tuesday.

Commissioners will hear requests from more departments and agencies during their next regular meeting on July 17th.
