Salem/Montrose/Canova Teeners continue to thrive

Salem, S.D. -- After claiming the I-29 League Tournament championship, the Salem/Montrose/Canova 15 and 16 year old teener team has continued to thrive.  In the past week they have gone 2-0, to move their overall record to 11-1 on the season.

Salem/Montrose/Canova edged the Humboldt-Hartford 16s last Thursday 5-4.  In that game, Cole Cheeseman went 3 for 3 from the plate and knocked in three runs, while Tim Gassman was 2 for 3, with an RBI and stole two bases.  Salem/Montrose/Canova held the 5-1 lead heading into the 6th inning, but Humboldt-Hartford mounded a rally to cut the deficit.  Marshall Miller was able to preserve the win for Salem/Montrose/Canova, picking up his first save of the season.

Monday, Salem/Montrose/Canova picked up their 11th win of the season, downing Harrisburg 5-1.  The teeners were able to take advantage of four errors and nine walks issued by Harrisburg, while Luke Loudenburg stole four bases in the game for Salem/Montrose/Canova.  Cole Cheeseman was solid out the mound allowing just two hits in four innings of work.  Salem/Montrose/Canova will next be in action on Thursday when they head on the road and face Madison Gold at 6:00.
