Authorities investigate officer involved shooting in Moody County



    WARD, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley
says the state Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating
an officer involved shooting in Moody County.
     Moody County state's attorney Bill Ellingson says that a sheriff's deputy arrived
at a location near Ward where two vehicles were stopped and a
driver stepped out with a pistol in hand.
     Ellingson says at some point after, the driver was shot by the
deputy and the person was taken by ambulance to the hospital be
treated for those wounds.
     Jackley says the request for investigation came from the Moody
County sheriff's office, and a summary report by state
investigators is expected within 30 days.
     Authorities are not releasing any names.
