Blanche A. Sorenson



Blanche A. Sorenson, 88 of Lake Poinsett died February 10, 2012 in Mesa, AZ.

Blanche Legler was born on March 7, 1923 to Bill and Thyra (Jensen) Legler at Badger, SD. She spent her childhood in the Badger area where she attended grade school. Blanche graduated from Arlington High School in 1941. On November 28, 1942 she married Burdette Sorenson at Uvalde, TX. Their first years of were spent with Burdette in the military. They moved back to farm in 1946. They owned and operated their family farm until 1976 when they retired to Lake Poinsett. In her retirement years, she enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and being with family and friends. As snowbirds, they spent their winters at their home in Phoenix, AZ.

Blanche is survived by her husband, Burdette; her children, Bill (Judy) Sorenson of Omaha, NE; Sandra (John) Bray of Tenafly, NJ and Wally (Kathy) Sorenson of Erwin, SD; 8 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, a sister, Ona Moetter. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Thyra Legler a infant daughter, Jacqueline and her brother, Pete.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sorenson will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Badger Lutheran Church in Badger, SD with Pastor Gene Peterson officiating, burial will be in the Clara Lutheran Cemetery at rural Erwin, SD. Visitation will preceded services in the church on Thursday. The Johnson-Henry Funeral Home of Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
