BOR Director talks about new DSU interim president
In looking for the right person to serve as the interim president at Dakota State University in Madison, the Board of Regents wanted to find someone familiar with the information systems and technology areas of D-S-U’s mission. Dr. Jack Warner, executive director of the Board of Regents, says the board found that in Doctor David Borofsky, who will start as DSU’s interim president next month.
Borofsky most recently served as provost and chief academic officer of Westwood College in Colorado. Warner said that Borofsky will resign from that position and work full-time for DSU for approximately the next 17 months until a permanent replacement is found for outgoing president Doctor Doug Knowlton. Warner says Borofsky will not be a candidate for the permanent position.
Warner says it’s important in higher education to do presidential searches “on-cycle” or prior to the start of a fall term, so that’s why an interim president was chosen.
Warner says the Board used a unique service to compile candidates for the interim position.
Warner says the board was sent information on 13 candidates, did phone interviews with four of them, and then in-person interviews with three before deciding on hiring Borofsky.
Warner says Borofsky will be on campus later next week to introduce himself to DSU faculty and staff. He says he will officially start work on February 8th.
Warner says the Board is happy with its choice.
Warner says a search committee for DSU’s presidential search will be named in June, with the search being launched officially this fall. He says the goal is to have a new president in place to start in the summer of 2013.
